Michael Wascom

Strategic Partner

Having nearly 30 years of experience in high-level strategic communications and public affairs, Michael Wascom joins Strategic Elements as a Strategic Partner. Wascom also serves as Executive Vice President of Reputable, a public relations agency, and President and CEO of Banyan Woods Group, LLC.   

Before joining Strategic Elements, Wascom served as Senior Vice President at The Moak Group, a Washington D.C.-based public affairs firm, and as Managing Director of Government and International Affairs at American Airlines. In his role, he provided high-level advice and counsel through a major corporate merger. In 2004, Wascom was appointed to two senior positions at the U.S. Department of Transportation in the George W. Bush Administration—Counselor and Chief of Staff to the Under Secretary and Deputy Assistant Secretary for Governmental Affairs. He brings national trade association experience as the former Director of Federal Affairs and later Vice President of Communications at Airlines for America, the nation’s oldest and largest airline trade association.

Lifelong fan and loyal alumnus of the Fightin' Tigers of LSU, bleeding purple & gold.
Spent extensive one-on-one time with two heroes of the Greatest Generation, Senators Bob Dole and Daniel Inouye.
Landed on the deck of the nuclear aircraft carrier USS Theordore Roosevelt (CVN-71) on July 20, 1992, and catapulted off the ship the following afternoon.
