We sat down with Strategic Elements’ Director of External Affairs, Kristin Sheldon. Kristin has an extensive background in political communications and has a special skill of being able to take the most complex of issues and make them digestible. You can read our conversation below!
What is your favorite music genre?
I gravitate toward jazz or relaxed contemporary.
What is a lesson you have learned from your time at Strategic Elements?
The client’s priority comes first. Adjust your workflow accordingly.
What is your favorite ice cream flavor?
I love mint chocolate chip, salted caramel, or cookie dough– and it’s critical to accompany ice cream with a steaming Americano or cortado.
What is your dream vacation destination?
I dream of taking a multi-country tour through Europe. I’d love to take time exploring Great Britain, France, Germany, Austria, and possibly the Baltics!
What occupation did you dream of as a child?
As a kid, I dreamed of being a Walmart cashier. Seriously.
Who is your greatest inspiration and why?
My dad is my greatest inspiration. His model of absolute integrity, excellence, and passion motivates me to work hard and prioritize my priorities.
What advice would you give a college senior?
Intern, intern, intern! Try different things to find an industry that is exciting to you. Once you’re done with an internship, maintain your connections. Those references and contacts can help you land a great job after you graduate.
What is a skill you possess that you think everyone should try?
I roast coffee! We buy green coffee beans, then use an air roasting method that allows us to have more control on the tones and flavors of the bean. It’s incredibly fun and has taken our coffee drinking to the next level!
What is something that always boosts your mood?
I love playing board games, especially word games or Settlers of Catan.
